After that last post, and since I have nothing better to do, I thought I'd post some more "in progress" pics from the latest piece off the art table.
This latest one is for a group show down in Portland this Friday called "IT'S ALL WOOD".
That's the theme of the show. As long as your art is on wood, that's the only criteria.
Below, is the sketch I came up with. Seeing how Day of the Dead is coming up next month, it seemed pretty appropriate.
Here's the drawing transferred to a 12 1/2" x 16" piece wood. So far, only the faces have been lined in with acrylics.
Above, some of the colors are being blocked in. Just base colors first.
In the next pic, some more rendering is going on. More darks, high lights are added. To be honest, these pictures really suck. You really can't get all the subtleties going on in the colors, but oh well.
Below is the finished piece, and unfortunately, I didn't have time to scan this one. That means you'll have to settle for this last minute pic that was taken before me and Corrie proceeded to bubble wrap our pieces and get them ready for Fed Ex.If anyone happens to be in Portland over the next month, the pieces should be up 'till the end of October. The opening reception is at the Renowned gallery this Friday @ 6:00pm.
Here's a list of all the other artists that are in the show if you're curious.
Anyway, it's another good excuse to go to Portland. Hopefully the next post will have some stuff I'm working on for the Stumptown show in Portland at the end of the month. Look out P-town, Georgetown's coming!
