Practice Run

I wish I had more interesting stuff to show right now. Been cranking on some paintings for an upcoming show and I don't want to spill the beans on those sketches/paintings.......yet. The pic I posted was a study I did to see what approach would be best on the larger canvases I'm painting right now. Funny thing is, this one was a loose acrylic painting with some rattle can action underneath for coverage, with no underdrawing. It went pretty quick, and I thought, "Great! These paintings will go by quick!" Ha! Not so quick. As soon as any kind of pre-planned thought is set out to execute, it seems to take ten times as long. WTF??? If you draw on your pee-chee folder, whatever, but as soon as it's in a sketchbook, you freeze up. Or, at least I do.

A.P.E. + S.F. = Crazy Delicious!

Just got back from the San Francisco A.P.E. show last night. Wasn't sure what to expect since I've never been, and I'm glad to say, it didn't' disappoint. Met tons of cool people at the show, bought some really cool art, and got to talk to a bunch of talented artists, all in the span of two days.

One half of our table was split with the lovely and talented art attack of Karin and Suzanne.
Here they are proudly rockin the horns after two exhausting days of APE goodness. You can see some of the stuff they were selling in the pic. It was the Stumpytown/Monster/Monkey attack! The Bay Area never knew what hit 'em.



The above shot is Devholding down the fort with my pops. Dev was selling his Monstertown P.I. book at the table. My dad even came up to see what the show was all about, but I think he was just hoping for more booth babes to be there. Sorry dad, no Elvira this time.


Even the Pagan sibs came out to support the cause.

All in all it was a really good time. Shane and Gene also rolled down to the show with us. Shane was selling his North Country graphic novel, while Gene was scouring the floor handing out his sketchbook and keeping track of the nipple count. Gene likes nipples.

In a nutshell it was "good times" and I'd love to go back next year. Very inspiring. Speaking of inspiration, check out my other page (Inspiration street) for some SF pics from the day before the show.
