Monster Apocalypse

LA's, The Hive gallery, teamed up with the local Piranha Shop for this monster group show last night.

I decided to do a Bride of Frankenstein/Frida Khalo mash up for the show. My mom introduced me to her work when I was a kid. It was a book about her life with tons of photos of her and her paintings. Frida has got to be one of the first female punk rock, anti-establishment artists to come onto the art scene. You have to respect someone that isn't afraid to put their guts onto a canvas like she did.  Plus, she owned a monkey.

Title: "Fridastein
Size: 10" x 12"
Medium: Acrylics on Canvas

Frida is also on my short list of people I'd like to party with. When someone asks, "Want to go party with that crazy artist chick that owns a monkey?", the only answer to give is, "How soon can we get there?"
