Emerald City Comicon!

Quick Comic Con update for this weekend. Starting tomorrow I'll be sharing a booth with some local art homies.  Booth #506. I'll be selling prints so stop by if you want to check them out or just chat and catch up.

Also, I did some coloring chores on this comic cover over Dev Madan's pencils for the 2nd Monsterpedia anthology.

All of the comic artists named below will be at the booth selling this over sized Monsterpedia comic as well as some other local artists. This show is going to be crazy insane. If you don't believe me, check out the talent that will be at the show. Hope to see you there!

Oscar Legends

Title: "Higher Primate"
Size: 10" x  20"
Medium: Acrylics on Canvas

Tomorrow night Hero Complex Gallery will have two art shows. This piece is for the Oscar Legend show at SOMArts in San Francisco.

I based this painting on Kubrick's, 2001: A Space Odyssey. I was watching this making of clip of 2001 and was digging on how they made the pen float in the air in zero space. Check it out here at 7:10. No 3D here. All practical effects. Brilliant.

There are lots of themes in this flick. Human evolution for one. Never be afraid to evolve. Change is good. Take a chance.
Grab the pen monkey. Grab the pen.

Alright. it's late and I'm rambling. Check back in soon. Emerald City Comic Con is coming up and there will be lots of updates to come. I'll be sharing a space with the art homies and I'll let you know what area we're in. Stay tuned.

The T. Commandments

Title: "The T. Commandments"
Size: 12" x 18" / 13" x 19" Framed
Medium: Acrylics on velvet

Wrestlers on velvet. What else is there to say? LTD gallery's latest group show going on tonight. How can I NOT do a painting of Laurence Tureaud, a.k.a., Mr. T.

First time painting on velvet. Pretty challenging but super fun once you get the feel for it.

I didn't know much about Mr. T. prior to his days as a bouncer. Pretty interesting life to say the least. Give it a read when you get a chance. Also found some interesting things like this while doing research.  The best thing about doing this painting was hearing people's stories about meeting the man himself. Besides seeing him at San Diego Con, I've never met him personally, but all the stories I heard from people that have, are the same. Super nice guy, hands down. When you had a crazy life like his, why wouldn't you be.

Anyway, hope to see you all there tonight at the show. In closing I'll leave you with this Mr. T.quote:
"Never offer Mr. T coffee, because you wouldn't offer Mr. Coffee tea."
